Repair Summary
Checked washer for taking an extended amount of time to spin clothes out. Customer stated they would often have to run an additional Drain & Spin cycle and noticed the remaining cycle time would increase. Inspected the suspension rods and found them operating properly. Found damage to the tub top consistent with the washer previously going off balance. Tested the washer during spin and heard a grinding-type noise, followed by a high-pitched noise as the basket slowed down. Inspected underneath the washer and found no significant oil leakage; however, based on the abnormal noises and symptoms, the gearcase appears to be beginning to fail. Due to the age of the washer and anticipated repair cost, the customer elected to replace the unit rather than proceed with repairs.
