Samsung Fridge - Ice Maker & Dispenser Issues
Model: RF32CG5400SRAA
Location: Cape Coral, FL 33991
Repair Summary
Checked refrigerator for ice production and dispensing concerns. Customer stated the lower ice maker is only producing ice approximately once per day and the upper ice maker produces ice but will not dispense. Upon inspection, found the customer leaving the ice scoops inside the lower ice bin, which may interfere with the shutoff arm and prevent normal ice maker cycling. Cycled both ice makers and verified both completed the harvest cycle and called for water properly. The upper ice bucket was full, but the ice had clumped together into a large block, preventing dispensing. Removed some ice and broke the remaining clumps loose, then verified the unit dispensed ice properly in both cubed and crushed settings. Tested the water dispenser and verified good water pressure. Customer is using a genuine water filter. Inspected the IR sensor, auger motor, and cubed/crushed actuator and verified all are functioning properly; video was taken documenting operation. Customer provided a photo showing the ice chute packed with small pieces of ice. Advised that crushed ice can accumulate and block the chute and that the chute will need to be kept clean and clear. Poured water down the ice chute to test the seal and verified no water leaked from the front; video was also taken. Connected HASS and ran service diagnostics and a Weak Cooling Test. No error codes or component failures were found. Diagnostic graphs showed frequent door openings in both the fresh-food and freezer compartments. Explained that excessive door openings allow warm, humid air into the refrigerator, which can contribute to elevated temperatures, condensation, ice clumping, and reduced ice production. Temperatures are regulating properly but are being affected by the excessive door openings. Graphs were taken and shared with the customer. Customer was advised of these findings and proper use; however, the customer was not receptive to the education provided. No mechanical or component failure was identified. Unit checks normal at this time.
