Repair Summary
Checked refrigerator for weak cooling and poor ice production. Customer stated the ice maker had stopped producing ice and, when it did produce ice, the ice was slushy. Checked the freezer temperature and found it at approximately 32°F, which is not cold enough for proper ice production. Verified the compressor and all fans were operating. Inspected the sealed system and found oil residue at the Lokring connection near the condenser, confirming a refrigerant leak. This is a known issue with this model. Completed the sealed-system repair by replacing the filter drier and affected Lokring connections. Pressure tested the sealed system to 353 PSI and observed only a 4 PSI drop over more than 15 minutes, verifying the system passed the pressure test with no additional leaks found. Evacuated the system to a deep vacuum and recharged the refrigerator according to factory specifications. Advised the customer to allow approximately 24 hours for proper cooling temperatures to be restored, after which normal ice production should resume. Also recommended that the customer obtain the proper filter bypass and remove the refrigerator water filter since the unit is supplied by the reverse osmosis system under the sink, helping prevent additional water-flow restriction.
