Repair Summary
Checked refrigerator for weak cooling. Customer stated the fresh food section was maintaining temperature, but the freezer was not cooling properly. Connected HASS and ran a service diagnostic report, which showed the freezer temperature at approximately 23°F and the fresh food section around 40°F. Inspected the compressor area and found no traces of oil. Bubble tested all accessible sealed-system joints with no bubbles or visible leaks found. Inspected the freezer compartment and verified the evaporator fan was operating with proper airflow. Found only one loop of frost forming on the evaporator coil, indicating a possible restriction or low refrigerant charge. Cut into the sealed system and found the system still under pressure, with no evidence of a refrigerant leak, indicating a restriction was more likely. Ordered the filter drier and necessary sealed-system parts. Returned and installed the ordered parts and completed the sealed-system repair. Pressure tested the system to 350 PSI, isolated it for 15 minutes, and observed only a 0.6 PSI drop. Bubble tested all joints again with no leaks found. Released the nitrogen and evacuated the system to 600 microns. Recharged the refrigerator according to factory specifications, restored power, and verified the compressor and all fans started and cool air was circulating properly. Set temperatures accordingly and advised the customer to allow approximately 24 hours for proper cooling temperatures and normal ice production to be restored. Unit checks normal at this time.
