GE Dishwasher - Improper Draining & Water Remaining After Wash Cycle
Model: ZDT800SIY0II
Location: Marco Island, FL 34145
Repair Summary
Checked dishwasher for customer complaint of improper draining and residual water remaining after the wash cycle. During further discussion, the customer clarified that the water he observed was located below the mesh filter screen, within the sump assembly. Inspected the area and explained that a small amount of residual water remaining in the sump is normal by design. This water helps maintain moisture around the sump seals, preventing them from drying out, cracking, and potentially developing leaks. Customer understood the explanation. Customer also questioned the length of the drain hose extension underneath the kitchen sink. Explained that, due to the existing dishwasher installation and plumbing configuration, the additional drain hose length is necessary to maintain a proper high-loop configuration above the garbage disposal connection and help prevent wastewater from flowing back into the dishwasher. Reorganized and neatly coiled the excess drain hose underneath the sink to improve its positioning and appearance while maintaining the required drain hose routing.
Performed operational testing to verify proper dishwasher functionality, including washing, rinsing, draining, and drying. Confirmed that the dishwasher completed its operating functions properly, with no active error codes, drainage failures, or water leaks detected. Reviewed recommended dishwasher maintenance procedures with the customer, including proper filter cleaning and general care to maintain optimal performance. This visit was primarily for customer education and verification of normal operation. No mechanical or electrical failures were identified, and the dishwasher is operating as designed.
