Samsung Fridge - No Cool
Model: RF32CG5300SRAA
Location: Lehigh Acres, FL 33974
Repair Summary
Checked refrigerator for a no-cooling complaint. Upon inspection, found evidence of sulfur-related corrosion affecting the sealed refrigeration system. The filter drier exhibited significant black discoloration and corrosion, resulting in a refrigerant leak and loss of cooling performance. The customer stated that the refrigerator was not connected to a water supply and questioned how sulfur could affect the appliance without a direct water connection. Explained that homes supplied by well water may have hydrogen sulfide gas present, which can be released into the surrounding air during normal household activities such as showering, washing dishes, and doing laundry. Over time, airborne sulfur compounds can circulate throughout the home and contribute to corrosion of exposed metal components, including copper refrigerant lines and sealed-system connections. Educated the customer that disconnecting the refrigerator from the water supply does not eliminate exposure to airborne environmental contaminants. Explained that sulfur-related corrosion can compromise sealed-system components, resulting in refrigerant leaks and cooling failures. Advised that environmental corrosion is generally not considered a manufacturing defect and is typically excluded from manufacturer warranty coverage. The warranty company was contacted, informed of the findings, and approved the necessary repairs as a one-time courtesy exception, despite sulfur-related environmental damage normally being excluded from coverage. A replacement filter drier and condenser fan motor were ordered to complete the repair.
Returned and completed the approved repairs. Following the sealed-system repair, performed a pressure test to verify system integrity and confirmed that the system passed without indications of refrigerant leakage. Verified normal operating pressures and confirmed that the refrigerator was operating properly following the repair. Advised the customer to monitor the refrigerator for approximately 24 hours to allow temperatures to stabilize and verify consistent cooling performance. At the completion of service, the sealed refrigeration system passed pressure testing, operating pressures were within normal range, and the refrigerator checked normal.
