Samsung Microwave - Loud Buzzing Noise
Model: SMD3070ASYB
Location: Fort Myers, FL 33912
Repair Summary
Checked microwave for a loud buzzing noise during operation. Upon arrival, attempted to heat a glass of water and confirmed the abnormal buzzing noise when the heating cycle started. Determined that the noise was originating from the magnetron. A defective high-voltage transformer was also considered a possible contributing factor. Recommended replacing the magnetron and high-voltage capacitor/diode, with the high-voltage transformer to be replaced if necessary.
The warranty provider supplied the replacement parts. Replaced the magnetron and high-voltage capacitor. Tested the microwave by heating a glass of water and verified that the water temperature increased from 76°F to 130°F, confirming proper heating performance. The microwave is now operating normally.
Recommended that the customer thoroughly clean the microwave interior, as accumulated food debris and grease splatters can contribute to burning, arcing, and interior damage. Unit checks normal at this time.
