Repair Summary

Checked refrigerator for customer complaint of intermittent cooling failure. Upon inspection, found indications of a restriction within the sealed refrigeration system. Observed evidence of a previous sealed-system repair, including what appeared to be a replacement compressor. The compressor was operating with abnormal noise, and the suction line was freezing during operation, indicating an abnormal refrigeration condition. Further inspection revealed that the filter drier had not been replaced during the previous compressor repair. Based on the observed operating conditions and previous repair history, determined that the sealed system required further service to address the suspected restriction. Ordered a replacement filter drier and planned to pressurize the refrigerant lines, evacuate the system, and recharge the refrigerator to factory specifications. Advised the customer that the refrigerator must be completely emptied and disconnected from electrical power at least 24 hours before the scheduled repair to allow all accumulated ice to melt and provide proper access for sealed-system service.

Returned and replaced the filter drier assembly. Pressurized the refrigerant lines in an effort to clear the suspected restriction and restore proper refrigerant flow. Following the procedure, evacuated the sealed system using a vacuum pump to remove air and moisture, then recharged the refrigerator with the factory-specified refrigerant charge. Advised the customer to monitor cooling performance and inspect for any recurrence of suction line freezing or abnormal operation. Explained that if the restriction returns, it may indicate an obstruction within the internal refrigerant tubing embedded in the refrigerator cabinet. If confirmed within the inaccessible cabinet tubing, the restriction would not be repairable through conventional sealed-system service, and the refrigerator would be considered non-repairable. Customer was made aware of these findings and the possibility of an internal cabinet restriction. Further monitoring is necessary to determine whether the repair has permanently resolved the cooling concern.
