Model: GFW550SPR5RS

Location: Naples, FL 34102

Repair Summary

Checked washer for customer complaint of water leaking or dripping into the wash tub when the appliance was not in use. Upon arrival, inspected the washer and confirmed that no standing water was present inside the tub. When the customer opened the detergent dispenser drawer, several water droplets fell into the tub. Further inspection revealed moisture accumulation and condensation within the dispenser housing. Determined that movement from opening the dispenser drawer was dislodging accumulated water droplets from the housing and dispenser assembly, allowing them to fall into the wash tub. Performed operational testing of the water inlet valves and confirmed that both valves opened and closed properly, with no evidence of water bypassing the valves while de-energized. Also inspected the drain hose installation to verify that it was not inserted excessively into the standpipe, which could contribute to improper drainage or siphoning concerns. No installation abnormalities or mechanical defects were identified, and no error codes were present.

Contacted GE Technical Support to discuss the customer's concern and determine whether any known service bulletins, documented cases, or manufacturer-recommended corrective procedures were available for this condition. Technical Support confirmed that no known bulletins or documented cases were identified for the reported issue. Explained to the customer that the observed water droplets appeared to originate from residual moisture or condensation within the dispenser housing rather than an active water inlet valve leak. The customer expressed dissatisfaction with this explanation, stating that she previously owned the same washer model and had never experienced this condition. Acknowledged her concerns and advised that all accessible components and applicable operating functions tested normally, with no mechanical failure identified during the inspection. Customer stated that she intends to contact GE directly for further assistance and clarification. No repairs were performed, as no defective component was identified. Washer checks normal mechanically at this time.
