Repair Summary

Checked refrigerator for a reported water leak. Upon arrival, the refrigerator water supply was turned off. Restored the water supply and inspected the inlet lines, then pulled the refrigerator forward to check the rear connections; no visible external leaks were initially found. Dispensed several glasses of water and inspected the filter housing and internal water lines with no leaks observed. Customer reported no water inside the refrigerator. Inspected the freezer compartment and drain area and found no sheet ice or evidence of a drain-related leak. Cycled the ice maker and verified it called for water without leaking. Further inspection found the ice maker fill area frozen over. Cleared the ice blockage and cycled the ice maker again with no additional leaks observed. The customer was returning home that day, so the water supply was left on for monitoring. Refrigerator temperatures were set accordingly, and the customer was educated on shutting off both the water supply and ice maker when leaving the home for an extended period. Explained that leaving the ice maker operating with low or interrupted water pressure can allow repeated cycling and contribute to filling issues. Unit initially checked normal with no active leak identified.

Customer later called back and was able to pinpoint the source of the water leak. Customer provided video documentation showing water pouring from the filter housing into the icebox area. Returned to complete the repair and determined the filter housing assembly and ice maker required replacement. Replaced both the filter housing assembly and ice maker. Restored the water supply and verified proper water pressure by dispensing several glasses of water. Cycled the ice maker and inspected the repaired components and surrounding area; no additional water leaks were observed. Advised the customer to monitor the refrigerator over the next several days. Unit checks normal at this time.
