Samsung Fridge - No Cool / Burning Smell
Model: RF23BB8600QLAA
Location: Cape Coral, FL 33990
Repair Summary
Customer reported no cooling in either compartment and an electrical burning smell. Upon arrival, found the refrigerator unplugged. Restored power for diagnostics, but error code 84C indicated a compressor fault and prevented further HASS testing. Verified the compressor and evaporator fan were not operating, while the condenser fan was running. Customer also reported a SmartThings communication error. Unable to reproduce the burning smell during inspection. Refrigerator was left unplugged as a precaution pending repairs.
Replaced the compressor, filter drier, service port, Lokring couplers, and main control board to address the compressor failure and communication issue. Pressurized the sealed system with 350 PSI of nitrogen and bubble-tested all connections. Recorded a pressure drop of only 1.9 PSI over 15 minutes. Evacuated the system to 600 microns and recharged with 78 grams of R600a refrigerant. Verified the compressor and fans were operating. Advised customer to allow 24 hours for temperatures to stabilize.
