Repair Summary

Checked refrigerator for customer complaint of insufficient freezer cooling and no ice production. Connected Samsung HASS diagnostic software and performed a system evaluation, which revealed no active error codes. Conducted a weak cooling diagnostic test and identified abnormal freezer temperatures, confirming inadequate refrigeration performance. Inspected the rear sealed system compartment and discovered oil residue around the high-side refrigerant coupler, indicating a refrigerant leak at the connection. Further inspection revealed that the compressor process stub had been flattened against the compressor housing. While attempting to adjust the connection, the tubing cracked near the compressor body. Due to the location of the damage and insufficient tubing clearance, a replacement Lokring fitting could not be installed to restore a reliable sealed connection. Determined that compressor replacement was necessary, along with repair of the leaking high-side connection.

Replaced the compressor, filter drier, service port, and associated Lokring fittings to restore the sealed system. Following installation, pressurized the refrigeration circuit with 350 PSI of nitrogen and performed a bubble leak inspection of all repaired connections. Monitored system pressure and recorded a total pressure decrease of 1.4 PSI during testing. Evacuated the sealed system to 600 microns and recharged it with 78 grams of R600a refrigerant. Completed the sealed system repair and advised the customer to allow 24–48 hours for compartment temperatures to stabilize and normal refrigeration performance to return. The customer was informed that cooling and ice production would require additional time to recover following the repair.
