Repair Summary
Checked refrigerator for a no-cooling complaint. Upon inspection, found the inverter board displaying 4 flashes and retrieved active 84C (locked compressor), 41, and 83 error codes. Based on testing, determined the compressor had mechanically locked and would require replacement. Explained to the customer that the 41 and 83 communication-related error codes could also indicate a failed main control board; however, because the compressor had clearly failed, the compressor would need to be replaced first before determining whether the main control board also required replacement. Reviewed the sealed system disclaimer with the customer, explaining that while every effort is made to locate external refrigerant leaks prior to repair, an internal cabinet leak cannot always be confirmed until the sealed system is opened and repaired with a UV filter drier installed. Advised that if an internal cabinet leak were discovered, the refrigerator would be considered non-repairable and previously completed sealed system repairs and labor would be non-refundable. Based on this finding, the customer elected not to repair. No repairs were completed.
