Repair Summary

Checked oven for customer complaint of improper heating, extended preheat times, and inconsistent cooking performance. Upon arrival, discussed the customer's concerns and initiated a bake cycle set to 350°F to evaluate preheat performance and temperature regulation. Within approximately 10 minutes, the oven indicated that it had reached the programmed temperature of 350°F, while my independent temperature meter registered 400°F and the customer's analog oven thermometer displayed 300°F. After allowing approximately 5 additional minutes for the oven cavity and thermometers to stabilize, all three temperature readings equalized at 350°F. Opened the oven door to release heat and observed the temperature decrease to 280°F. Closed the door and monitored the oven for an additional 15 minutes, during which the temperature recovered to 350°F. Continued monitoring for another 10 minutes and observed temperatures remaining consistently between 348°F and 351°F. These findings demonstrated proper temperature recovery and stable heating performance under the tested conditions.

During inspection, found the oven temperature sensor bent out of its normal position. Removed and inspected the sensor for damage, then replaced it to ensure proper temperature sensing and regulation. Explained to the customer that newer electronically controlled ovens may regulate heating differently than older models, maintaining relatively stable cavity temperatures rather than producing rapid or pronounced temperature fluctuations. Also demonstrated how to access the oven temperature offset adjustment and explained how to calibrate the oven to accommodate individual cooking preferences. Based on the observed temperature readings, recovery performance, and operational testing, the oven is heating and maintaining temperature as designed. No additional abnormalities were identified, and the unit checks normal at this time.
