Repair Summary
Checked refrigerator for poor cooling. Upon arrival, found elevated temperatures in both the fresh food and freezer compartments, and the cabinet side panels were excessively hot. Pulled the refrigerator out and found the condenser fan motor was not operating despite receiving 120V AC. Advised the customer the condenser fan motor would need to be replaced and left a temporary fan behind the refrigerator to provide airflow and help with cooling until the return visit.
Upon return, the customer stated the freezer never cooled back down despite the temporary fan. Inspected the evaporator and found no frost pattern on the evaporator coil, indicating a sealed system refrigerant leak. Explained to the customer that the failed condenser fan prevented an accurate sealed system diagnosis during the initial visit, as the lack of airflow alone could account for the cooling issue by raising refrigerant temperatures. Although the temporary fan resolved the overheating condition of compressor, the absence of a frost pattern confirmed an additional sealed system failure. Did not install the condenser fan motor. Reviewed the repair process with the customer, including the possibility of sealed system warranty coverage; however, the customer declined further repairs and elected to replace the refrigerator instead.
