Repair Summary
Checked washer for the drain pump running continuously and the unit failing to advance through wash cycles. Performed diagnostic testing and retrieved error codes associated with a Whirlpool service pointer addressing a pressure switch fault and main control board failure. Determined that the main control board required replacement to correct the issue. Additionally, inspected the washer and discovered oil leaking from the transmission gearcase, indicating deterioration and a potential impending gearcase failure.
Replaced the main control board under Whirlpool warranty coverage and tested the washer, verifying normal operation at this time. Educated the tenant on proper loading practices and advised against washing comforters, rugs, or other heavy items that could place excessive strain on the transmission and cause further damage. Also reviewed appropriate cycle selections to help minimize additional wear on the deteriorating gearcase. Tenant acknowledged the recommendations and was informed of the existing transmission concern. Unit is operating normally at this time. Uploaded video documenting operation after the repair.
