- Whirlpool Fridge - Intermittent Ice Dispensing
Model: WRF555SDFZ16 Location: Cape Coral, FL 33993 Repair Summary Checked refrigerator for intermittent ice dispensing. Customer stated the ice maker is producing ice, but the dispenser intermittently will not dispense it. Upon inspection, found the ice maker leaking slightly during the fill cycle. Also found the retaining clip where the ice bin locks into position is broken (see pictures). When the auger motor activates, the broken clip allows the ice bin to push outward instead of remaining securely engaged, preventing proper ice dispensing. Because the bin is being pushed out of position, water dripping from the ice maker is falling between the ice bin and auger assembly rather than directly into the bin. The damaged retaining clip is incorporated into the refrigerator cabinet liner and is not a replaceable component. Due to the location of the damage, this condition is not repairable.
- Samsung Fridge - No Ice
Model: RF28R7201SR/AA Location: Cape Coral, FL 33904 Repair Summary Checked refrigerator for no ice production. Upon arrival, found a large piece of ice jammed along the side of the ice maker, blocking the sensor. Connected HASS and ran a service diagnostic report, which showed several stored ice maker and sensor error codes. Found the IR sensor on the auger motor assembly was not illuminated. Removed the ice maker and auger motor assembly and cleared all ice buildup. Also found one Y-clip missing. Replaced the auger motor assembly, ice maker, and Y-clips. Forced the ice maker to cycle and verified it completed the cycle and called for water properly with no leaks. Checked water pressure and verified good flow. Customer is using a genuine water filter. Cleared the stored error codes and verified none returned. Advised the customer to allow approximately 24 hours for normal ice production. Unit checks normal at this time.
- Samsung Fridge - Noisy Ice Maker
Model: RS27T5200SR/AA Location: North Fort Myers, FL 33917 Repair Summary Checked refrigerator for an intermittent ice maker noise. Customer stated the ice maker would randomly produce ice, but after a period of time it would cycle repeatedly and make a loud noise. Ran HASS diagnostics and found a C26 ice maker error. Initially forced the newer ice maker to cycle and it operated normally; however, after several cycles, the ice maker became stuck during the harvest cycle and produced a loud hammering noise (see video). When this occurred, the ice maker would not call for water. After three additional cycles, it completed the harvest and filled properly. Contacted Samsung and completed Visual Support. The failure was successfully reproduced during the call so Samsung could observe the ice maker malfunctioning. Samsung recommended replacing the refrigerator door along with the ice maker. Also had a main control board available as a precaution due to a previous HASS Overall Check causing the refrigerator to stop operating. Replaced the door and ice maker and tested operation. Verified the ice maker cycled and filled properly with no abnormal noise (see video). Ran the HASS Overall Check and submitted a passing report to Samsung. Advised the customer to allow approximately 24 hours for normal ice production.
- Whirlpool Fridge - Intermittent Power Loss
Model: WRFC9636RZ00 Location: Saint James City, FL 33956 Repair Summary Checked refrigerator for intermittent power loss. Customer stated the display would go completely blank, followed by a power failure error and audible beeping. Upon arrival, the refrigerator was operating normally and had been for the previous few days. Entered service mode and found no stored error codes or failed components. Verified a stable 120V supply at the outlet and traced power to the main control board with no voltage loss. Inspected the electronics and found no visible shorts or burned components. Replaced the main control board; however, after the compressor started, the display began flashing and the unit intermittently lost power again. Compressor windings tested evenly, and the compressor was not suspected as the cause. Suspected an intermittent short within the low-voltage DC circuit involving the inverter, evaporator fan, or display electronics. Returned and isolated the low-voltage components, activating each fan individually without duplicating the voltage drop. During further testing, the UI/display panel shorted when touched, and while disconnecting it, the connector and solder connection broke away from the panel. This may have been the source of the intermittent short. Replaced the UI/display panel and tested operation. Refrigerator is currently running normally with no flashing display, beeping, or power loss. Advised the customer to monitor the unit for any recurrence.
- Midea Fridge - No Cool
Model: MRF29D9BST Location: Fort Myers, FL 33919 Repair Summary Checked refrigerator for no cooling. Upon inspection, found the compressor was not running while the remainder of the refrigerator was powered and operating. Tested the compressor windings and measured approximately 16.5 ohms across all three terminals. Ordered the main control board and inverter, with the possibility of compressor replacement if the issue remained. Returned and found the incorrect inverter had been supplied. Replaced the main control board, but the compressor still would not start. Returned with the correct inverter and installed it; however, the compressor still failed to start. Contacted tech support and confirmed the compressor was not starting after replacement of both the main control board and inverter. The unit was submitted for further review, and customer service will contact the customer with the next steps.
- Samsung Fridge - Ice Maker Freezing Over
Model: RF28R7201SR/AA Location: North Fort Myers, FL 33917 Repair Summary Checked refrigerator for the upper ice maker freezing over. Customer stated we previously serviced the refrigerator for the same issue before they were aware they had an extended warranty. Upon inspection, found the ice room frozen over, which is a known recurring issue with this model (see pictures). Thawed and cleared the ice room and replaced the ice maker and auger assembly. Also found the ice bin cracked and requiring replacement. Customer approved having the replacement ice bin ordered and shipped directly to their home. Cycled the new ice maker and verified proper operation. Advised the customer to allow approximately 24 hours for normal ice production. Explained that although the ice room was thawed and the affected components were replaced, the underlying ice room freezing condition is not permanently repairable and is expected to return.
- Samsung Fridge - No Cool
Model: RF31CG7400SRAA Location: Bonita Springs, FL 34135 Repair Summary Checked refrigerator for no cooling. Upon arrival, found the fresh food section cooling somewhat, while the freezer was cool but not reaching freezing temperatures. Connected HASS and ran a service diagnostic report, which showed two stored ice maker error codes. Ran the Weak Cooling Test and found average temperatures around 30°F. Inspected the compressor area and found no visible oil or obvious signs of a refrigerant leak. Inspected the main control board and initially found the LED was not illuminated. Reset the refrigerator and waited approximately 15 minutes. The LED illuminated and the compressor and fans started. Verified the evaporator fan was operating with good airflow. Based on the cooling performance, proceeded with sealed-system diagnosis. Installed a new filter drier and access valve on the compressor and pressurized the system with 352 PSI of nitrogen. Leak testing identified leaks at both condenser connections. Repaired both connections and pressure tested the system again for approximately 25 minutes. Pressure remained stable and increased slightly rather than dropping, confirming no further pressure loss. Evacuated the sealed system and recharged it with 3.3 oz of refrigerant. Ran the HASS Overall Check and received a passing result with no active error codes or additional issues found. Unit is operating properly at this time.
- Samsung Microwave - Buttons Unresponsive
Model: ME11A7710DS/AA Location: Fort Myers, FL 33908 Repair Summary Checked microwave for buttons not responding. Upon arrival, plugged the microwave back in and found the controls were responding and the unit was operating properly at this time. Also found an installation issue where the surrounding cabinetry will need to be disassembled in order to remove the microwave for service. Made the customer aware that if the issue returns and the door assembly needs to be replaced, she will be responsible for having the microwave made accessible for service, along with an additional service fee. Unable to duplicate the reported control issue at this time.
- Samsung Dryer - No Heat
Model: DVE50BG8300V/A3 Location: Cape Coral, FL 33909 Repair Summary Checked dryer for no heat. Upon arrival, verified the unit was receiving proper voltage. The drum was spinning, but the dryer was not producing heat. Disassembled the dryer and found one of the heating elements reading open (OL) and the high-limit fuse open. Replaced the heater assembly and vacuumed lint and debris from inside the dryer cabinet. Reassembled and tested the unit, verifying the drum spins and the dryer cycles heat properly. Airflow appears to be restricted, as the temperature is not dropping at a proper rate, which may have contributed to the dryer overheating and the heater failure. Advised the customer to have the dryer vent professionally cleaned before using the unit. Other than the ventilation concern, the dryer checks normal.
